## What is Autocoding 2.0?

Autocoding 2.0 is HANK's upgraded AI-powered claim processing system. It can mark cases as Code Complete automatically, and it offers more configuration options than Autocoding 1.0. Quality control runs through Human Review Elements (HREs): targeted checkpoints attached to a case. Each element tells you:

- What needs review
- Why it matters
- Who should look at it
- What action to take

## What Autocoding 2.0 codes today

- **Anesthesia**, including GI endoscopy anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, nerve blocks, and post-op pain rounds
- **Radiology**, including interventional radiology
- **Surgery**, including surgeon companion claims for organizations that enable them
- **E/M visits**: office and outpatient, hospital inpatient and observation, and emergency department

## The five element types

- **HARDSTOP**: information is missing or conflicting, and the problem would cause a payer rejection or denial. In the default configuration, resolve it before the claim is submitted. Note: you may still receive Autocoding predictions on a case with HARDSTOP elements.
- **COMPLIANCE**: a regulatory or audit concern that protects you during reviews.
- **FINANCIAL**: a potential payment impact. In the default configuration it does not block submission.
- **INFORMATIONAL**: an awareness-only notice. No action is required.
- **OTHER**: an internal system event, for example an external service failure. An automated check did not complete.

Your administrators can change how each type is handled.

## How to enable and use it

Reach out to ui-support@hank.ai to see whether your organization runs Autocoding 1.0 or 2.0. Enabling Autocoding 2.0 requires coordination with the HANK AI staff.

Once Autocoding 2.0 is enabled:

- Turn on the work queue in Claim Maker
- Filter by your role to see only the elements assigned to you
- Review each flagged item, then resolve, document, or escalate it
- Mark items complete and move to the next encounter in your queue

## Key things to know

- Autocoding only runs once per case. If review elements prevent full autocoding, a human must apply codes manually.
- Your facility can customize confidence thresholds, toggle specific checks on or off, and set code exemptions. Reach out to ui-support@hank.ai.
