Hank Claim Maker 3.0.0 Update #1

We are pleased to introduce the latest enhancements for HANK Claim Maker 3.0. This release marks an important step forward, introducing new capabilities that elevate automation, transparency, and ease of use across your workflows.

Post-Data Extraction Gating

Human Review Elements (HREs) are standardized system flags generated by the Data Extractor and AutoCoding Engine whenever human judgment is required to complete or validate the coding of a patient case. Each HRE identifies the severity of the issue, the role responsible for resolving it, and the specific reason why human review is needed. HREs ensure transparency, auditability, and consistent workflows by documenting all human interactions within the data extraction and coding process.

In previous releases, HREs were generated only after the AutoCoding engine attempted to fully code a case. This meant HREs appeared late in the overall case workflow, primarily as a by-product of AutoCoding logic identifying issues it could not resolve. While effective, this approach limited visibility into documentation gaps or missing required information until the very end of the automation process.

With this new release, HREs are now introduced during the post-data extraction Gating Phase. This is immediately after clinical documentation is parsed, structured and placed in the text fields in Claim Maker for review. By adding HRE generation earlier in the workflow, the system can identify missing, incomplete, or conflicting information before AutoCoding begins. This ensures that every case enters the coding process with the required information and documentation needed for accurate, compliant code assignment.

These early-stage Gating HREs focus specifically on two critical readiness checks and roles:

• Reconciler, Missing Required Note Types

The system now evaluates extracted documentation to confirm that all mandatory clinical note types are present. If key notes are missing, incomplete, or not detected during extraction, a HARDSTOP HRE is generated for the Reconciler to resolve before the case is processed by AutoCoding 2.0. These Reconciler HARDSTOP HREs will prevent a case from being picked up by the AutoCoder engine.

• Data Entry, Missing Required Fields

The extraction process also validates that all required case level fields are populated. When required fields are absent, an INFORMATIONAL HRE for the Data Entry role will be generated to correct the information. These HREs will NOT block the case from being processed by AutoCoding 2.0.

By shifting these checks to the post-extraction phase, the system ensures that cases enter AutoCoding 2.0 with complete inputs. This reduces downstream coding inaccuracies and strengthens the overall automation pipeline catching documentation and information gaps at the easiest possible point.

Important Note: During this first phase, Missing Required Note Types will not prevent AutoCoding from running. This gives you time to define the Required Note Types per Facility before blocking is enforced.

Features Supporting the New Post-Data Extraction Gating Process

To further strengthen the new Post-Data Extraction Gating process introduced in this release, we are adding several supporting features designed to improve case readiness, reduce downstream interruptions, and ensure higher overall coding accuracy. These enhancements work alongside the new post-extraction Human Review Elements (HREs) to create a more reliable and predictable workflow.

HRE Work Queue Filtering

We have enhanced the HRE Work Queue to provide a more focused and efficient experience for users responsible for reviewing and resolving Human Review Elements. Previously, the Work Queue displayed all Non-Code Completed cases, even when those cases did not contain unresolved HREs requiring review or action. This often created unnecessary noise and made it harder for users to quickly identify the cases that truly needed attention.

With this release, the Work Queue has been updated to display only cases that contain Unresolved HREs. By narrowing the queue to the cases that require human intervention, users can now:

• Prioritize work more effectively by seeing only actionable cases
• Reduce time spent navigating non-actionable items
• Improve throughput by focusing directly on cases that need review
• Enhance accuracy and consistency in resolving HRE-driven issues

This enhancement aligns with our broader improvements to the Post-Extraction Gating process and HREs, ensuring that users have a cleaner, more intuitive workflow that highlights cases requiring human review. Read more about the Claim Maker Work Queue and Work Queue filtering.

HRE Gating Message

To improve the Post-Extraction Gating process, we enhanced the product to display a message that alerts users when Unresolved Non-Informational HREs are preventing AutoCoding execution.

When a case contains one or more blocking HREs, such as missing required documentation, the system will display a clear message on the HRE Tab informing the user that AutoCoding cannot run until those Non-Informational HREs are addressed.

Compact Views for Streamlined Data Entry

To improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary navigation during case preparation, we are introducing a new Compact View option on the Data Entry View. This enhancement allows users to enter patient, insurance, and other case information from a single consolidated layout, without switching between the Patient, Insurance, and Other tabs.

The Compact View includes a Required Only toggle option that allows users to improve accuracy and workflow speed during case validation. This enhancement is especially valuable when resolving the Data Extraction and Data Entry HREs for Missing Required Fields. Read more about the Data Entry Compact and Condensed Views.

Notifications Center for Processed Document Updates

We have enhanced system notifications with a new Notifications Center designed to give users clear, real-time visibility into document processing activity within the system. As documents are uploaded and extracted, the Notifications Center provides a centralized location where users can quickly see the results of these processing events. Read more about the Notification Center.

HRE Resolution Reason

We are introducing a new feature that allows users to enter a Resolution Reason whenever an HRE is marked as Resolved. This enhancement ensures that every resolved HRE includes clear context about how the issue was resolved, providing valuable insights for downstream reviews, auditors, and operational leaders.

Post-Extraction HREs that are resolved by processing document(s) will automatically be Resolved and noted with a Resolution Reason of System Resolved.

This feature strengthens the overall HRE framework by ensuring that every resolution is accompanied by meaningful, traceable context.

Improved HRE Tab Counter

We have enhanced the HRE Tab Counter to give users a clearer, more accurate view of the HREs that are unresolved for a case. Previously, the counter displayed only the number of blocking HREs, which made it difficult to understand the full scope of outstanding HREs on a case.

General Product Improvements

Audit Log

We have expanded the Audit Log to provide broader visibility into key system activities and strengthen traceability across your workflows. The system now records four new action types:

• Batch Exports: Logs when a batch is exported, including who initiated the export and when it occurred.

Pinned Header Row for CSV Files

We have enhanced the way Batch Level CSV Files are displayed by introducing a pinned header row. When viewing CSV documents in the system, the header row will now remain fixed at the top of the screen as you scroll the file. This will improve readability, allow for faster data review, reduce errors, and provide a more user-friendly document navigation experience.

AutoCoding Accuracy Reports for Facility-Level Insights (Preview Mode)

This release introduces preview capabilities for AutoCoding Accuracy Reports that give a clear, data-driven view of AutoCoding performance across the cases for a specified facility. These reports provide visibility into accuracy, quality, and operational efficiency by summarizing results for Autocoded or Audited Cases. These reports are available on the Admin View using the Export button dropdown menu. Read more about AutoCoding Accuracy Reports.
